We’ve got some new artwork in the salon and we absolutely love it. It comes from the vert, very talented Kate Childs… we’ve got lots of her pieces adorning the walls, but the one above is a particular favourite of ours
Kate Child is an illustrator currently living and working in Bristol. Since graduating with an animation degree in 2009 at UWE she has been scribbling on a daily basis, and recently began studying a Masters in Illustration at Cheltenham University. Kate creates engaging narrative pieces, focusing on nostalgia and detail. Her artwork is greatly influenced by her love for music from Rockabilly and Punk to Blues and Soul, she is a fan of Pulp Art, and 1950s and 60s pop culture. Kate’s love for narrative is greatly influenced by her Grandfather who worked as a graphic designer. She works mainly using pencil, dabbles with paint and sometimes gives in to digital colouring. Inspired by traditional animation & illustration techniques, her work is both classic and charming with a modern edge.
